POLYSTYRENE INSULATION

Polystyrene is a foam insulation that is used in both residential and commercial settings. Polystyrene insulation is rigid, can withstand extremes in temperature, and also reduces noise. Unlike other insulation materials, it is waterproof and lasts a long time.

  • Distribution International stocks Dow STYROFOAM™ Insulation, Owens Corning FOAMULAR 250 Extruded Polystyrene (XPS), Rigid Foam, and other top brands to provide you with the best products on the market today.
  • Overall Performance: Polystyrene is a closed-cell, moisture-resistant rigid foam well suited to meet the needs for a wide variety of residential and commercial construction applications. It will degrade when exposed to sunlight or physical abuse, so it needs to be protected from the elements. Typically facing or jacketing is applied to the exterior surface of polystyrene wallboard and pipe cover to provide outstanding service life and vapor resistance.
  • Physical Characteristics: Polystyrene is not hygroscopic and therefore repels water. This product is combustible and requires a thermal barrier in internal living spaces.
  • Temperature Range: The service temperature ranges from cryogenic [-297° F (-183° C)] to moderate heat Industrial/Commercial applications reaching 165° F (74° C).
  • Environmental Impact: Expanded polystyrene (EPS) is environmentally friendly. Made from 98% air, no toxic substances are used in the manufacturing of EPS, and it is 100% recyclable. Polystyrene is inert.
  • Fabricated Products: DI utilizes advanced CNC equipment and computer nesting software to efficiently fabricate curved segments, pipe cover, fittings, and sheets in various sizes and thicknesses to meet your job site needs.
  • Reduced Labor Cost: DI fabricated products eliminate in-field fabrication time and cost, allowing you to focus on installation.
  • Applications: Wall board insulation, Pipe Insulation, Curved Segments, Fittings and Tank Heads, and Residential and Commercial Buildings.
